We work on offering useful and robust pipe engineering services at Fluxiss. On our current job on the Google KGX building in the UK, our task force was invited to perform pipe stress analysis in many different systems in the building.
Scope of Work
Our assignment was to carry out stress analysis on any category of piping system mechanical ones and domestic as well. The project involved Plantrooms, Risers and pipework at floor level. We paid attention to areas of stress and thermal expansion, pressure loads and building movement.
Pipe Stress Analysis Approach
The site team was involved with our engineers to know the layout and constraints of the site. We examined the stress profile of every pipe piece using the industry-standard tools. This made us learn the areas where we were to be flexible and places where we had to make adjustments to supports.
Solutions Delivered
The major issue was to fit the movement joints of the building. As solutions to this movement, we offered practical alternatives such as expansion loops, and flexible connectors that would allow movement without the integrity of the system. These changes have been applied in all the critical zones.
Why It Worked
The solution is straightforward: identify the system, determine the stress, and implement pipe engineering solutions that perform, not on paper but, on site. We do not complicate the process. We concentrate on what is required to make the system secure, effective and in line.
This project helped us understand once again that the pipe stress analysis is not a box to tick, but rather an essential element in ensuring the endurance of piping systems and their functionality in actual conditions.
